Grant Program Design and Consulting for Philanthropists and Funders
When you're investing in creating change, how you design, assess and manage your grants matters as much as how much you give. The difference between a grant program that creates lasting impact and one that just moves money often comes down to program design, assessment rigour and the support you provide alongside funding.
Having worked on both sides of the grant process - as a funder and as a grant recipient - I understand what makes a grant program work well and where it doesn't. I also know how to spot social washing: proposals that look compelling on the surface but lack substance underneath.
I work with philanthropists, foundations and funding bodies on everything from designing new grant programs to reviewing existing ones, strengthening assessment processes, and building the capacity of the organisations you fund to deliver on their potential. I also act as a referral partner for funders who want to connect organisations in their network with hands-on strategic or operational support.
-
Grant program design: creating programs from the ground up with clear objectives, robust assessment criteria and application processes that attract high-quality submissions
Grant program review: evaluating your existing programs to identify opportunities for greater impact, improved efficiency and stronger alignment with your funding priorities
Grant assessment support: helping your assessment panels identify genuinely high-impact proposals and ask the right questions to make confident, evidence-based funding decisions
Capability building for funded organisations: designing programs, coaching and mentoring that strengthen the strategic and operational capacity of the organisations you fund
Inclusive and gender-equitable grantmaking: identifying barriers that prevent women-led and diverse organisations from accessing funding, reviewing application design for bias, and tracking equity outcomes across your portfolio
Based in Melbourne, I work with funders across Australia.
