Asylum Seeker Resource Centre: Unlocking the Next Chapter for ASRC’s Social Enterprises

CASE STUDY - DELIVERED THROUGH MY CONSULTING WORK AT SOCIAL TRADERS

ASRC Cleaning had built a strong, values-led social enterprise delivering both reliable income and meaningful employment for people seeking asylum. After several years of organic growth, the business had reached an inflection point: it was established, delivering impact and operating sustainably, but needed investment to scale further. The team sought external support to develop a clear, evidence-based business case for board and funder investment.

I led a collaborative consulting process to help ASRC Cleaning chart a path forward. This began with strategic conversations and a Theory of Change workshop to clarify the social impact goals guiding all business decisions. From there, I designed and facilitated social procurement and ideation workshops to identify growth opportunities aligned to ASRC’s mission and operational strengths. I then validated those ideas through customer research and market testing, and built a detailed financial model to evaluate different scale pathways.

The result was a practical, phased three-year growth strategy projecting 30% revenue growth, a 4% increase in net profit, and 8 new employment opportunities for people seeking asylum. Every strategic choice was backed by data and aligned with ASRC Cleaning’s dual goals of financial sustainability and employment impact.
