Business Advisory for Creative Practitioners

I help creatives sort out the business side of things so you can focus on what you do best: creating.

I'm not a typical business consultant. My dad was a graphic designer and artist, so I grew up surrounded by creativity - in studios, around materials, watching creative work become a livelihood. I studied Fashion Design at RMIT and spent the first part of my career in fashion, working across both the creative and commercial sides of the industry, before moving into social enterprise and the for-purpose sector. Over the years I've worked with a number of creative social enterprises, helping them grow, streamline operations and build businesses that stay true to their creative vision.

I also hold an MBA from Melbourne Business School, which gives me the business thinking to back up the creative instincts. But my favourite thing is helping creative practitioners find that sweet spot between creativity, business and making sure everything stays financially solid. I understand the tension between your practice and the business stuff, and I'll work with you on your terms - not try to squeeze you into a framework that doesn't fit.

Maybe you're losing sleep over your finances and don't know where to start. Maybe your business is growing and you're not sure how to adjust. Maybe you've got a dozen ideas and can't work out which one to tackle first. Or maybe you just need someone to help you get the operational side under control so it stops draining your creative energy.

    • Business health check: working out what's really going on and where to focus

    • Finances and pricing: making sense of your numbers and making sure your pricing reflects the value of your work

    • Strategy: creating a plan so you can work more intentionally and less reactively

    • Finding new opportunities: using what you know about your customers, competitors and market to figure out where to grow

    • Getting things running smoothly: improving how you spend your time and how your business operates day to day

    • Protecting your creativity: helping you find the right balance so the business stuff doesn't crowd out the work you love

    • Flexible, ongoing support: experienced business support on a part-time or as-needed basis

Based in Melbourne, I work with creative practitioners across Australia.
